my own personal answer to Carnaby street ... I had this essex super six woodie that i drove around for about a year ... and i wore a bowler hat ... carried a cane .... well as you do when you do so ... i had started to work for Tom Bass in his Minto studio ... first to help with the casting of the Adelaide AMP sculpture and onwards to work on the National Library entrance in Canberra. Tom was at the height of his career doing many of the mayor public artworks during the sixties and seventies ... I learned a lot about plaster casting and welding copper sheet ... I think I still suffer industrial deafness from months of belting copper sheets into shape on an anvil out the Minto Bush ... then National service dragged me away from this job ...
